We all know what it is like to be stuck in a dead end job. Hopefully, we didn’t spend too much time there. Some consider those jobs “paying their dues.” And when we are done and come out the other end, we hope to be better for it; having learned that we never want a job like that again! We are not very productive in those positions and our attitude in one of just trying to get through. A good company will try to make every position effective+ and have every employee feel valued.
A Gallup Poll found that disengaged employees actually cost the U.S. economy a whopping $350 billion a year. This is obviously significant and could be remedied simply says a study done by CareerBliss. They feel any company can have happy employees and according to their CEO and Cofounder, Heidi Golledge, “Being able to be truly happy at work is one of the keys to being happy in life.”
Their data, after compiling a list of the 50 happiest companies in the United States, supported an effective list of 5 rules. And here they are thanks to an article on www.fastcompany.com by Lydia Dishman.“
The 5 rules of happy employees.
• Happy employees don’t stay in one role for too long. Movement and the perception of improvement create satisfaction. Status quo, on the other hand, creates burnout.
• There is a strong correlation between happiness and meaning; having a meaningful impact on the world around you is actually a better predictor of happiness than many other things you think will make you happy.
• A workplace is far likelier to be a happy place when policies are in place to ensure that people regularly get acknowledgement and praise for a job well done.
• Recognize that employees are people first, workers second and create policies that focus on their well-being as individuals.
• Emphasize work/life integration, not necessarily “balance.”
