EDCO PubTalk heads to Sisters in February

0

February 27 join Alan Holzman of Intel Capital, Mark Silliman of Smartwaiver and Darrin Dow of Smart Grow Technologies at monthly networking forum.

Intel Capital creates a SMART future

We all know Intel makes chips, but do you know the company has its own venture capital group? By investing in a broad spectrum of startups and  nurturing them today, Intel believes it creates tomorrow’s technology. Pretty smart, hmmm?

Who better to talk about that decision process than keynote Alan Holzman who spent 17 years with Intel Capital, responsible for software M&A and investments. Alan made many investments and served on the board of WebLogic and Red Hat Linux, among others. Come hear Alan and take a “lessons learned” trip from San Francisco to Eastern Europe to Beijing.

Now retired in Sisters, Alan is currently the Chairman of the Sisters Planning Commission. He helps startups in our area by serving on EDCO’s Stable of Experts and reviewing companies for the Bend Venture Conference.

Sometimes the simplest ideas are the SMARTEST

Millions of waivers of liability are signed…every day! Smartwaiver is an online solution that converts paper waivers into interactive digital documents, streamlining the signing process while capturing customer data. The NFL, the Orange Bowl and Wilson Tennis are among Smartwaiver’s most recognized clients. CEO Mark Silliman, a serial entrepreneur, started Smartwaiver in 2012 and will share his best practices for his growing company. We love that this young company’s bywords are passionate, nimble, and quick.

SMART agriculture: Lights, controls, action

Started three years ago, Smart Grow Technologies, based in Sisters, made a major pivot at the end of 2013 as lighting technology advanced. The company now offers for the horticulture industry both LED lighting and digital controls managed from a smart device or computer.

Founder Darrin Dow has assembled an impressive team of engineering, environmental, and marketing talent to take Smart Grow to the next level. The company is testing their lights and automated controls with Mexico’s Dept. of Agriculture, second only to the U.S. in agricultural revenue.

SMART attendees will hop on the trolley!

The night of the event, The Bend Trolley will shuttle PubTalkers from Bend to Sisters. The Trolley holds 30 individuals, so email Erin Reilly to let her know you want to be on the party bus. We’ll leave the EDCO/COVA parking lot at 4:30 and to get in the Sisters spirit, beer from Three Creeks Brewing will be served. You’ll also be able to purchase onboard a $5 Three Creeks growler to fill at the brewery.

Thanks so much to the City of Sisters and The Bend Trolley as they are graciously underwriting the transportation. Really, now you have NO excuse!
