City Club June Forum – How Do We Become a Zero Carbon Emissions Community?

0

We all may feel a bit helpless when we confront the facts of climate change and the projections of how challenging life may become for our children and grandchildren. Mayor R. Rex Parris shows citizens and community leaders a practical approach for making meaningful and effective change at the community level. City Club of Central Oregon forum is set for Thursday, June 19 at St. Charles.

We may choose a different path to becoming more carbon neutral, but Lancaster CA shows us that it can be done and may help inspire us to do it.

R. Rex Parris of Lancaster, California is the popular three-term mayor of Lancaster, California where he has put the city well on the way towards becoming a carbon neutral, zero energy community. He is extremely knowledgeable about the science and impact of climate change and has more experience in bringing a city towards carbon neutrality than any person in the world.

Parris will talk about the financial benefits to the City of Lancaster, including new job creation.

Along with the City Club’s forum, Parris’ visit to Central Oregon will include presentations to the Bend City Council and a free public presentation sponsored by The Environmental Center.
