Governor Kitzhaber Announces Relief for Oregonians Who Missed Health Insurance Tax Credits

0

Oregonians have until Friday, June 27, 2014 to seek tax credit.

Governor Kitzhaber announced a plan for providing retroactive tax credits to eligible Oregonians who tried to apply for health insurance through Cover Oregon, but were unable to do so.

“My number one goal is ensuring Oregonians have high quality, affordable health care. While Cover Oregon has processed more than 85,000 enrollments for commercial health insurance plans, we know too many people faced delays,” said Governor Kitzhaber. “To make sure they had health coverage, some families enrolled in a plan directly with an insurance carrier. They may have missed out on tax credits that help make health care more affordable. Earlier this year, I said that I would work to make it right. This program delivers on that promise.”

Those who attempted to apply without success, and then purchased a private plan directly through an insurance carrier, may be eligible for a retroactive tax credit. Oregonians who qualify, or are unsure whether they qualify, are encouraged to call Cover Oregon at 1-855-CoverOR (1-855-268-3767) before Friday, June 27, 2014 at 6pm.
