Garbage Haulers Ask Community to Pitch In to Help CAN Cancer

0

In 2010, over $30,000 was raised by our community for CAN Cancer; helping local families in Central Oregon.

With 25 percent of all US families diagnosed with cancer losing their life savings trying to survive it – more help i
s needed!

CAN cancer provides community assistance to help cover non-medical living expenses for Central Oregonians fighting all forms of cancer. Funds raised for CAN cancer have helped local families with their utilities, hotel stays, gas cards, rent assistance, grocery cards and more.

The group of Central Oregon Garbage Haulers includes: Bend Garbage & Recycling, Cascade Disposal, High Country Disposal, Prineville Disposal, Madras Sanitary Service and Wilderness Garbage. 100 percent of the money donated will be put into a fund with the St. Charles Foundation so that all funds raised will be used directly to benefit local residents.

HOW TO DONATE

CAN cancer is relying on the Central Oregon community and the Central Oregon Haulers’ customers to ‘Pitch- In’ and give families a fighting chance. Without their donations, there will be no money to help.

Customers can watch for their purple envelope through April in their garbage billing statement and residents can make a tax deductible donation to CAN cancer.

“If everyone who receives one of these envelopes pitches in at least $1, we can reach our goal of $60,000 to help your neighbors-in-need stay strong,” said Corinne Martinez of Wilderness Garbage.
