The Oregon Bicycle Constructors Association (OBCA) has accepted Visit Bend’s bid to host the 2011 Oregon Handmade Bike Show from October 29-30, 2011. During the same weekend Bend will be hosting the Halloween Cyclocross Crusades, a popular two day Cyclocross race that typically attracts over 1000 contestants.
The Oregon Handmade Bike Show has been held in Portland for the past four years while the Halloween Cyclocross Crusades have been hosted in Astoria for the last 8 years. Hosting both events in Bend will maximize the attendance of both events and will attract cycling enthusiasts from across the Pacific Northwest.
“OBCA is very excited about the opportunity to bring the Oregon Handmade Bike Show to Bend,” said David Levy, President of the OBCA. “This is a great opportunity to showcase the talents of Oregon’s bicycle builders in a new region of the state and we’re confident our partnership with Visit Bend and the Cyclocross Crusade will increase the attendance of our biggest fundraiser of the year.”
Over 40 handmade bike builders will display their work and the show is expected to attract approximately two thousand people from outside of Central Oregon and equally as many from within Central Oregon.
Aaron McBride, the owner of Pedal Nation Events and meeting planner for the Oregon Handmade Bike Show was convinced that Bend would be the ideal location to take the Oregon Handmade Bike Show to the next level.
