Serving all your private or professional aviation needs in the communications and audio-visual arenas, NFlight Technology provides a solid lineup of FAA-compliant camera mounting systems, avionics recording cables, prop filters, and cockpit recording systems for general aviation aircraft.
Pilot-owned and operated since 2010, NFlight operates locally for full tech support out at the Bend Airport courtesy of one of the firm’s key members, Kris “Jaymo” Jamieson.
“We really focus on schools, flight training, and then people who just want to record themselves like YouTubers and TikTokers and aviation Instagram influencers,” Jamieson tells CBN. “They all use our stuff. Basically, it’s cockpit recorders and camera mounts, and also a modular headset system. We’re the only company out of all the biggies, like Bose, that produces a modular headset system of microphone and headphones that are designed for the modern pilot. For the traveling ATP (Aircraft Transport Pilot) flying passengers all over the country.
“Our system is modular so you can use the headset outside of the cockpit and you’ll have a pair of nice headphones you can use to watch movies, sit in the terminal and listen to music, jog on a treadmill, or take a walk on the beach.”
NFlight was started up in Alaska by Patrick Carter, a career aviation enthusiast and close friend of Jamieson, whose camera and microphone equipment were installed on Carter’s planes. He and another friend, Hunter Clark, all came together with Carter being the primary founder and lead engineer, thereby combining everyone’s skills to allow the company to blossom and grow.
Prior to joining NFlight, Jamieson was heavily connected in the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic Games and the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games in Canada as related to snowboarding and action sports, where his duties included major voice work and play-by-play at the venues.
“I was deeply involved in the advent of POV-type action cameras, GoPro to be specific, and was connected to the foundational years,” he adds. “Along with that was homemade, camera-carrying unmanned aircraft systems (not drones) before you could buy them at Best Buy. Hans Skjersaa was one of the godfathers of unmanned aircraft systems and carrying cameras. He is a friend of mine and we’ve worked together on multiple business fronts involved in camera-carrying quadcopters. There was no GPS, no leveling, no return to home. These were remote control aircraft. Alongside GoPro and these flying camera machines, I was working for ABC TV when I got my private pilot’s license in order to be allowed to film and create aerials of a Justin Trudeau live-television interview event out at Niagara Falls. That’s how I entered aviation.”
With a relatively simple product line, NFlight mainly centers on their variety of modular headset variations that customers can choose from. Its corporate structure and responsibilities are split up between Jamieson leading tech support working out of the Bend Airport, Carter doing all the engineering from Alaska, and Clark running the San Diego warehouse enterprise.
“The whole business operates online with the three of us running the whole show,” Jamieson notes. “We use no call centers, no AI, no phone trees. We call every single person back and answer the phone every time we possibly can. Every email is responded to personally with no AI auto-writing or cut and paste. We wholeheartedly deliver customized tech support for every client. I just sold a bunch of camera mounts to NASA at the Goddard Space Center out in Maryland. And some pilots at Nellis Air Force Base that fly Reaper drones recently bought a bunch of microphones. Our client base is massive and diverse. It’s a remarkable experience to speak with all these people around the world and it gives me an incredible view of humanity.”
