Bend, Oregon neighborhood is the only Pacific Northwest location to be included in the Where to Retire Magazine list for 2015.

NorthWest Crossing was named as one of the 50 Best Master-Planned Communities in the United States by Where to Retire Magazine. This biannual list, which appears in the July/August issue of the magazine, was a result of a nine-month selection process during which a team of editors reviewed hundreds of neighborhoods across the country. NorthWest Crossing, along with the other communities on this year’s list, were selected due to its offering of a well-rounded, active lifestyle, along with high quality.

Where to Retire publisher Karen Northridge writes, “We applaud the positive impact that each of our 50 best [communities]is making on the economic health of the towns and cities in which they are located.”

The article lauds NorthWest Crossing’s tree-lined streets and large amount of parks and open spaces, along with the convenience of its mixed-use retail center. Residents interviewed for the article cited the neighborhood’s popular Farmers Market and easy access to outdoor recreation as some of their favorite aspects. NorthWest Crossing was the only Pacific Northwest community included in this year’s list, and the only neighborhood without homeowner fees.

David Ford, general manager for NorthWest Crossing, said, “We’re so pleased to be recognized again by Where to Retire Magazine. Out of the many wonderful mixed-use communities in the United States, it’s gratifying to be selected as one of the best – we’ve worked hard to make our neighborhood sustainable, livable and attractive for people of all walks of life, including retirees.”

NorthWest Crossing is a mixed-use community on Bend’s west side that features mature trees, wide sidewalks, beautiful parks, connectivity and streetscapes filled with variety and character. With a vibrant “neighborhood center” that offers dining, shopping and entertainment, NorthWest Crossing is becoming a major destination within Bend. Built on the principles of new urbanism, NorthWest Crossing has won several awards and been featured in national publications for its green practices. West Bend Property Company LLC, a partnership of Brooks Resources Corporation and Tennant Family Limited Partnership, is developing the community.
