Wow — 27 years. What an incredible moment to reflect on.

OAS started with one mission — to connect folks to active lifestyles. Today that original mission remains the same — but so many other things have changed. We’re amazed at how far OAS has come, how many lives have been impacted including Dave Nichols (who you might have read about in our last newsletter) and the thousands of others impacted. So much of that is because of you.

On our birthday (December 23), we took a moment to reflect. Over the past 27 years you’ve helped OAS grow into the year-round full operations program it is today. Our numbers tell an incredible story:

1995: Operations from a garage.

2003: OAS becomes an official nonprofit.

2007: Formal adaptive ski program launches.

2011: First Executive Director and office space acquired.

2012: Summer sports pilot program begins.

2016: Year Round Program Director hired + expanded summer programs.

2019: Five Year Round staff, not to mention three+ office dogs (we couldn’t do it without our puppy pals).

2022: Mt. Ashland Satellite Pilot Program Begins

Almost three decades later, OAS has a headquarters in Bend and venues to operate out of thanks to our partners: Mt. Bachelor, Hoodoo Ski Area, Mt. Ashland and Bend Parks and Rec. Thousands have chased the mountains and the trails, caught it and made it real — challenges and barriers be damned and that’s no small feat. We couldn’t have done this without you.

A lot happens when you set big goals. What matters to us is that we are all part of a collective moment, working together to build active thriving lives. We’re so excited for what’s to come, and are committed to continuing this work. Thank you for being part of this journey and for letting us be part of yours. Cheers to another decade of healthy active thriving lives!

With Gratitude,
The OAS Team
