Opportunity Knocks (OK) announces the addition of four new peer mentorship and leadership development teams. New OK teams include OK 1, a team for consultants and coaches that serve a wide variety of clients. The new OK 2, a partnership team formed in collaboration with Bend Outdoor Worx, consists of owners of outdoor consumer goods, most of which are in the startup phase.

OK 20, the third of the four teams, is made up of Executive Directors and key employees in nonprofit organizations focused on community growth and development; team members include City Club, COIC, The Bend Chamber, EDCO, Bend 2030 and Volunteer Connect. Finally, OK 4 is a traditional OK team, made up of owners and key employees from a wide variety of local industries. This team includes early stage, startup and well established companies.

Opportunity Knocks is a member supported 501 (c) 6 nonprofit organization that helps Central Oregon’s leaders connect, learn and grow. In the 20 years since its inception, OK has served hundreds of leaders, entrepreneurs, business owners and key employees in the Central Oregon business and nonprofit community. OK members include entrepreneurs, business owners, CEOs, startup founders, nonprofit Executive Directors, and key employees in all of the above organizations. Members are matched with a trusted, local, facilitated team of peers which acts as an informal Board of Advisors, sounding board and peer mentoring team.

Traditionally, OK teams were made up of business owners in traditional, well-established, non-competing industries. Over the past six months, OK has begun to shift its focus to include startup owners and their key employees, (individuals who have significant decision-making power in their companies) on OK teams. Jim Schell, Opportunity Knocks Board Chair said; “This infusion of new members is overdue in Central Oregon because our economy is rapidly expanding to include the addition of literally hundreds of vibrant New Economy businesses.”
