The OIP aims to exonerate the wrongfully convicted, educate and train law students and promote legal reforms aimed at preventing wrongful convictions.

The Oregon Innocence Project plans to begin to analyze and take cases in Central and Eastern Oregon. The community is invited to welcome the Oregon Innocence Project and get to know the organization and some of their key people.

Oregon Innocence Project (OIP) is a joint project of the Oregon Justice Resource Center and Metropolitan Public Defender whose mission is to (1) exonerate the wrongfully convicted, (2) educate and train law students, and (3) promote legal reforms aimed at preventing wrongful convictions.
OIP is the only program within Oregon whose sole mission is to actively track inmates’ claims of factual innocence, investigate those claims, test DNA and other scientific evidence, and litigate when appropriate.

Speakers will include:

• John Hummel, Deschutes County District Attorney Elect
• Bobbin Singh, Executive Director, Oregon Judicial Resources Center
