Calling All High School Students
Spend a week at OSU-Cascades! Summer Academy introduces you to life on a college campus, and you’ll earn a scholarship doing it. Meet new friends while exploring your academic and career interests with university professors and experts.
After a morning of classes, you’ll get out there with activities like hiking, floating the river and playing board games. Explore a future career by touring an off-campus employer, hearing from industry experts, working in an on-campus lab or on your class project.

Choose Your Academic Track
Session 1
Computer Science
Learn how computing is at the foundation of so much around us, from social media to artificial intelligence, and how it has transformed how we solve problems. You’ll explore computing fundamentals through video game design and development.
Kinesiology
Learn about the field of kinesiology through the lenses of physiology, muscle function and how energy is used in the human body. You’ll spend time in the FORCE biomechanics lab learning how physical activity is captured through technology and translated into data that informs us about our movement.
Outdoor Products
Explore outdoor gear and apparel design. You’ll discover how creativity, sustainability and innovation combine to develop products used to experience the outdoors. Develop your own product prototype and discover the business, design and production facets of the industry.
Session 2
Art+Media+Technology
You’ll learn traditional and digital media techniques including drawing, printmaking, graphic design and interactive media. You’ll also explore visual storytelling and design thinking as you create original art and build creative confidence.
Natural Resources
Explore conservation, sustainability and adventure leadership. Through field studies and outdoor activities, you’ll build an understanding of the relationship between people and their natural environment.
Political Science
You’ll get an inside look at how individuals and communities can influence local government decisions. Explore civic engagement while you develop leadership, communication, collaboration and critical thinking skills — qualities that can help you effect positive change in your own environments.
Earn a Scholarship to OSU-Cascades
Students who complete a Summer Academy session will each receive a $500 scholarship to OSU-Cascades. The scholarship can be applied toward tuition for the fall term immediately following graduation from high school.
When:
Session 1: July 19–24
Session 2: July 26–31
Who:
High school students entering grades 10–12.
Where:
OSU-Cascades in Bend, Oregon.
Overnight or Day Option:
Stay in our state-of-the-art residence hall or register as a day student.
Cost:
Overnight Option: $1,500*
includes lodging, all activities, meals and snacks.
Day Option: $1,000*
includes all activities, meals and snacks.
