Day by day as information technology and online capabilities become more advanced, services like mailing and door to door delivery still require the human touch along with good old fashioned customer service. With two convenient locations in Bend, Pack Ship & More begins their 30th year of service to the Central Oregon community and beyond. As part of one of the world’s largest networks offering packing, shipping, communication and marketing services to both businesses and private customers, Pack Ship & More intends to be a part of the future and not the past.

Formerly Mail Boxes Etc.; the company opened its doors at Wagner Mall in Bend in 1989. While Central Oregon continues to grow in population and size, Pack Ship & More has always had a home town feel. As a one-stop-shop for sending parcels, the company are authorized shippers for UPS and FedEx and are designated pick up locations for U.S. Postal, DHL, UPS and FedEx.

Richard Ross, president and owner and Heather Ochoa, chief operations manager share the sentiment for doing business in a place that has a passionate sense of community. “I’m very fortunate to have chosen Bend as the town to open my business and raise my family. Bend has been on a growth track for the majority of the 30 years [where]Pack Ship & More has been in business. There are very active advocacy groups in Bend that have allowed me to grow our business over the years, provide many jobs and have allowed us to contribute to community nonprofits and the school [district],” says Ross.

Ochoa started with the company as a customer service representative in 2008 and quickly climbed the ladder to success.

“With a ‘can do’ attitude, and a willingness to learn and tackle any task put in front of her, she is a testament to hard work and the courage to accept any challenge. She has become Pack Ship & More’s most valuable asset,” says Ross of Ochoa.

Together Ross and Ochoa strive to be ‘the best customer service center in Central Oregon’ and believe it’s all about the customers’ needs.

“At our company, we provide an attractive mix of products and services that customers want and need on a daily basis but the secret sauce is how people feel when they come into our stores and most importantly how they feel when they leave,” says Ross. “By being helpful and kind to our customers it makes our jobs so much more rewarding and hopefully we see our customers return to us for years,” he adds.

Pack Ship & More’s customers are so loyal, some of them have been coming in for the entire 30 years they’ve been in business — even during the recession when economic times were very rough. While Ross steps out of the day-to-day operations and into retirement filled with traveling and spending time with family, Ochoa will continue to ensure that Pack Ship & More delivers excellent customer service to the community and keeps up with an ever changing technological world.
