Grant of $3,500 will extend efforts to save more animal lives in Central Oregon

The Bend Spay+Neuter Project announced today it has been awarded a $3,500 grant from the Petco Foundation to support its Community Cat program, which provides free spay/neuter and vaccinations for outdoor cats in Central Oregon.

Bend Spay+Neuter Project is a nonprofit organization which provides affordable, preventative veterinary care to cats and dogs at risk of suffering in Central Oregon. Since 2005, Bend Spay+Neuter Project has provided affordable and free spay/neuter surgeries for over 50,000 pets and community cats, helping to ensure that every cat and dog in Central Oregon has a loving home.

The Petco Foundation investment will help to cover the costs to provide free spay/neuter and vaccinations for outdoor cats, helping to curb the population and ensure that the cats are healthy and well cared for by local caretakers.

“We are so thankful for this funding which will enable us to continue to provide this important service to our community at no cost to caretakers. Most of these people feed and care for outdoor cats out of the kindness of their hearts, and we want to do everything we can to help them” says Megan Gram, Executive Director of Bend Spay+Neuter Project.
