Picky Bars — the Oregon-based energy bar company founded by professional athletes Jesse Thomas, Lauren Fleshman and Steph Bruce — have added to their popular Performance Granola lineup with a new flavor, Sassy Molassy. The athlete-focused snack was created with two-time New York Times Bestselling cookbook author Elyse Kopecky (Run Fast. Cook Fast. Eat Slow.) and features superfood blackstrap molasses, goji berries, coconut, seeds and is spiced with ginger and cinnamon.
“I love this granola for breakfast on the go,” says Kopecky, “The flavor is the perfect balance of sweet, warming spices and salty, and the iron in the molasses gives a boost my body loves for starting the day.” Sassy Molassy is inspired by one of Run Fast. Eat Slow’s most popular recipes. “It’s high in essential minerals that aid sleep, so it’s also my go-to for late night snacking,” she adds, an active runner and mother of two who knows a thing about the importance of a good night’s sleep.
With balanced nutrients, limited added sugar and unique recipes that are both satiating and fun to eat, Performance Granola stands out from the conventional granola crowd. All Performance Granola flavors start with gluten-free rolled oats and virgin coconut oil for a satiating and satisfying crunch. Sassy Molassy features goji berries and coconut flakes for texture and flavor, vitamin-rich pumpkin and sunflower seeds and is spiced with anti-inflammatory ginger and cinnamon. Each serving contains 135 calories and only four grams of added sugar, with three grams of naturally-occurring protein, primarily from the seeds — no powders or additives. Blackstrap molasses acts as the primary sweetener, giving an added boost of iron and potassium, which are great for athletic performance.
