Porch Light Home Inspection, a property inspection company in Bend, becomes certified as Home Energy Assessors by completion of the Oregon Home Energy Score Program. Porch Light Home Inspection now offers Home Energy Score Services in addition to comprehensive home inspection services.
In response to the City of Bend’s Environment and Climate Committee proposing Home Energy Score ordinance, Porch Light Home Inspection inspectors John Schwencke and Daniel Brewster successfully completed the Oregon Home Energy Score program and are now authorized Home Energy Assessors to better serve the community. The training is from the Department of Energy and authorized by Earth Advantage Institute, a nonprofit agency that administers the Home Energy Score Program in Oregon.
Porch Light Home Inspection inspectors Schwencke and Brewster now offer Home Energy Scores which include Home Energy Scores Report (HESR). This report makes transparent the home’s energy use, costs and cost-effective solutions for greater energy efficiency. The Home Energy Scores Report provides a 1-10 score on the home, the estimated energy consumption costs and recommendations for energy efficiency improvements.
“Adding the Home Energy Score to our suite of inspection services was a natural fit to help our clients learn more about the house they’re buying, selling or dwelling in,” said Schwencke, owner and chief inspector. “The Home Energy Score uncovers valuable information that a typical home inspection does not about energy efficiency. It also provides more transparency about the house and will help a buyer or homeowner make a more informed decision about the house’s energy consumption. It’s like a miles-per-gallon rating for houses.”
Schwencke is a licensed Home Inspector and has held certifications through the Building Performance Institute as a building analyst, envelope specialist and heating professional. He has also held certification as a Sustainable Building Advisor.
