Education & Support for Families with Young Children, Boosting Resilience & Fun

Raising Rooted Kids announces spring registration is open for its new Positive Discipline Education series for parents, a Farm Fun event and a new offering of its well-reviewed parent-child Empowered Playgroup, all starting in May. The Positive Discipline Education six-week series begins May 19 and offers parents/caregivers strategies for improving child behavior, increasing resilience and building a supportive community. Farm Fun is a one-day event on May 20 which includes u-pick vegetables and an entertaining-educational preschool circle. Finally, back by popular demand, Raising Rooted Kids’ Empowered Playgroup is a ten-week class beginning May 24 for preschoolers ages two-six and their parents/caregivers.

“Raising Rooted Kids was founded on the notion that to best serve our youngest people, we must also serve their first teachers: the parents and caregivers,” said Founder Rhea Grogan. “Empowered Playgroups and Positive Discipline Education reimagine support for families in early parenting with an emphasis on raising resilience, lowering stress and improving relationships.”

As a licensed elementary school teacher with a specialization in early education, a curriculum designer and yoga instructor, Grogan uses the foundations of Jane Nelson’s Positive Discipline to provide caregivers a practical approach to developing kind and firm boundaries, positive skill building and the belief that when children feel better, they do better. Raising Rooted Kids Positive Discipline Education provides sensible tools to help parents enjoy the glorious and messy job of raising kids.

Local parent Helen Cloots shared her experience with Raising Rooted Kids Empowered Playgroups, “My son was almost two when we started participating in Raising Rooted Kids preschool groups. It was such a great way for him to learn social skills, be exposed to enriching outdoor activities and gain so much language — with me by his side. I appreciated the adult space Rhea created to share our parenting struggles and joys. I am still connected to the other families who participated with us and made lifelong connections. My little guy turned three this year, and we’re so appreciative of the teachings, connections and joy of Empowered Playgroups. We will always have wonderful memories of our time with Rhea and the other families and recommend everyone join.”
