The Redmond Proficiency Academy will host a Community Resource Fair on Thursday, January 14. The fair is open to the public and will feature free community resources at the RPA Hugh Hartman campus, 2105 West Antler Avenue in Redmond from 5-8pm.
“The Resource Fair is a great way for community members to access multiple support services,” said Resource Coordinator Hillary Kirk. “This event will offer multiple free services including a free dinner.”
The Community Resource Fair will include free dental screenings courtesy of Kemple Clinic, free winter clothing (first come, first serve) and access to over 20 different community organizations. RPA will host a free dinner from Tate and Tate Catering from 6:30-8pm.
“We were so happy with the community turnout at last year’s fair that we decided to do all we could to recreate the event in order to support our community,” said student coordinator Miah Andersen.
In addition to these offerings there will also be community experts available to provide information on communicating with teens, suicide prevention, and the effects of concussions.
“We are excited to have so many different organizations coming to the Resource Fair,” said Kirk. “We want everyone who attends to feel like they are walking away with new supports and connections.”
There will also be over 20 different community organizations represented at the resource fair, ready to offer information. Some of these include: Central Oregon Veterans Outreach, NeighborImpact, Volunteers in Medicine, Big Brother Big Sister, Functional Family Therapy, New Priorities Family Services, Hospice, WIC, Deschutes County School Based Health Centers, Mosaic Medical, Saving Grace, Kids Center, Family Resource Center, Sparrow Clubs, Rimrock Trails and Deschutes Public Library. The event will have on site Spanish speaking translators for anyone who may need language assistance, as well as a craft table where kids can play while parents look around at all the fair has to offer.
“As a Central Oregon native, it has always been a dream of mine to host an event that works to unite community organizations in order to enhance their accessibility, and promote health in our community,” said Kirk. “I believe that the Resource Fair on January 14th will once again fulfill this goal.”
The Community Resource team encourages all community members to come and enjoy all that the Resource Fair has to offer.
