The City of Redmond Parks announce the upcoming completion of the newly constructed tennis and pickleball court complex in Sam Johnson Park.  A grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony will be hosted at the court complex, in partnership with the Redmond Chamber of Commerce & CVB, Wednesday, June 15, at 4:00 p.m. Mayor George Endicott will conduct the ribbon cutting ceremony at 4:15 p.m. sharp, tennis and pickleball enthusiasts are encouraged to attend.

Sam Johnson Park’s new court complex is one of the top public outdoor facilities in the state, featuring eight reconstructed tennis courts and the eight newly added pickleball courts.

“The addition of the eight new pickleball courts were the result of numerous public meetings and active stakeholder input,” comments Parks Division Manager Annie McVay.

“Over the course of the project, pickleball stakeholders presented compelling data to the City of Redmond Parks Committee which demonstrated the dramatic nationwide growth and benefits of this sport for all ages.  The Parks Committee considered many options and are pleased to have been able to redevelop the site to accommodate pickleball while balancing the historic use of the tennis courts,” adds McVay.

The City of Redmond Parks and Facilities Division maintains 26 developed parks, 3.8 miles of Dry Canyon Trail, more than 250 acres of undeveloped open space and a 20 acre cemetery.  To learn more about the Sam Johnson Park court complex construction project or other City of Redmond parks projects and/or programs, please contact Annie McVay, Parks and Administration Division Manager at 541-504-2003 or annie.mcvay@ci.redmond.or.us.
