SELCO Community Credit Union has unveiled its most innovative branch yet, with a state-of- the-art location on Century Drive which marks the financial institution’s third branch in Bend and fifth in Central Oregon.

From video conferencing and teller-less service, to safe, convenient ATMs, SELCO leaders say the new branch was uniquely designed to meet the evolving needs of modern credit union members.

After analyzing how the customer experience could be optimized, the innovations implemented at the 2,500-square-foot facility include:

• An open-concept design without teller windows. Members will instead be greeted by a tablet-equipped SELCO team member who can help with anything from opening an account to applying
for a loan;

• Video-conferencing technology to connect members to appropriate SELCO specialists in other locations for help with mortgages, insurance, business loans, and investments;

• Secure indoor ATMs that are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

• Visitors simply swipe any bankcard for after-hours access to the building’s lobby;

• A lodge motif and indoor lounge, complete with a working fireplace, to create an environment “reflective of Central Oregon’s mountain lifestyle;”

• Extensive use of digital screens for information and ambiance, including a six-foot by nine-foot video wall showing clips of outdoor activities in Central Oregon.

The building, which also features a North West exterior contemporary style with voluminous use of glass and natural light, was designed by Portland’s Baysinger Partners Architecture, with construction by Eugene-based McKenzie Commercial Contractors.

“We find the role of our branches evolving as many members embrace online and mobile banking for their routine transactions,” said branch manager Cheryl Cauthon.

“The West Bend Branch was designed with this in mind, allowing members to comfortably access our friendly experts for consultative services like loans, insurance, and financial guidance, while still having convenient access to the everyday services they need.”

The branch, located at 137 SW Century Drive on the site of a former board store, is set just north of the OSU-Cascades campus, and at the gateway to many of Central Oregon’s most notable outdoor attractions, including Mt. Bachelor and the Cascade Lakes Highway. It also has an adjoining approximately 1,500 sq ft suite that may be available for lease to a compatible user.

Cauthon said that the “bottom line goal” for the branch was to make each member interaction as efficient and positive as possible.

She added, “SELCO has been part of this community for more than 17 years, and we understand what makes Central Oregon, and our neighbors here,
so special.

“We think this branch will fit perfectly within this community and the lifestyle it embodies, while providing excellent personal service to all our local members.”
