Melanie Fisher, previous co-owner of Cog Wild Bicycle Tours has created an online course, SEO for Tour Operators, to teach tourism related companies the tools to stand above their competition in search results and increase tour reservations resulting in significantly higher gross profits. The course will be open to 25 participants initially, with a few spots currently still available.
It Has Been A Financially Devastating Year
The SEO course is in response to operators across the state sharing that it has been a financially devastating year. Many companies have stated they are nervous they won’t recover enough this season to be profitable, even with this year looking extremely promising. SEO for Tour Operators has been designed specifically to ensure increased business exposure resulting in increased profits and reservations.
SEO Grew Cog Wild
Melanie’s path with SEO and online marketing started in 2006 after purchasing Cog Wild, initially not comprehending that all that was being acquired were permits and vans — not customers! She soon started attending SEO and online marketing trainings, spending every off-season incorporating what she learned into the business to turn things around.
Ten years later, when she left Cog Wild, it had become an internationally known tour company and experienced 80 percent growth in profits year after year. Even in 2009, the business’s gross profit DOUBLED thanks to SEO and online marketing while other companies were closing their doors after the economy crashed.
The Path to Creating SEO for Tour Operators
Melanie has been working as an independent contractor, teaching tour operators and small business SEO one-on-one for five years. She also supports Travel Oregon’s Tour Operators and Guide Outfitter community as a contractor facilitating workshops and when things shut down due to the pandemic, she started thinking about how to support even more tour companies. Creating an online course seemed like the perfect way to make this happen.
