Parkinson’s Resources of Oregon (PRO) invites Central Oregon residents and those in surrounding areas to unite as a community in celebration and support of those living with Parkinson’s disease. PRO will host the annual Sole Support for Parkinson’s 1k and 5k walks at Drake Park on September 8. PRO is celebrating its 15th year of Sole Support, the nonprofit’s signature event raising awareness and funds for local services for Parkinson’s clients. Free registration at solesupport.org.
Executive Director Holly Chaimov said, “When we step out on Parkinson’s at Sole Support, we are working together in the fight against Parkinson’s disease. In working to meet our goal of raising awareness and services throughout the region, PRO recognizes there is much more to do to ensure no one in Central Oregon faces Parkinson’s alone. Funds raised at this Bend event stay local, supporting the presence of an outreach office and innovative programs accessible throughout the region. We are stronger together and in this, we invite people with Parkinson’s, friends, and family to join us in this celebration and step out on Parkinson’s to improve the lives of our neighbors and loved ones.”
On behalf of the PRO board of directors and staff, we thank the dedicated local volunteers who are working tirelessly toward the success of this event. These volunteers of the Central Oregon Parkinson’s Council have joined our efforts, and together we are raising awareness and financial support of Parkinson’s services in the region.
Over the past 14 years, Sole Support participants have raised more than $2.5 million to provide the financial underpinning for programs dedicated to improving the lives of patients and their loved ones. Thanks to the success of this fundraiser, Parkinson’s Resources does not require payment for services for individuals and families facing this debilitating disease.
