SAMSON MOTORS
Located at Prineville’s Crook County Airport, Samson Motors Inc. has, over the past several months, achieved a number of major milestones in the development of their Switchblade flying sports car. With the successful completion of their final wind tunnel testing at the University of Washington’s Seattle facility in April, the company celebrated the beginning of their launch into full-swing production of the first conforming prototype, which Samson hopes will take to the air later this year or early 2015.
According to Sam Bousfield, Samson Motors CEO, founder and Switchblade inventor the dashboard progress continued through this last month, as the deadline for shipping our dash display to AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin (July 25-31) steadily approached.
The seats frames were purchased through Lancair, a well known aircraft company with a 19G (19 times the weight of gravity) tested seat. This was then shipped off to Stitch Craft Upholstery in Redmond where Casey began to design our custom seat.
Composite Approach was instrumental in making the dashboard parts and they have been working on the two major body halves for the full-scale prototype. The two halves are in the process of the layup of carbon fiber in the molds.

Straw Propeller
Gourmet Foods
When Tony and Patricia Bartelson, owners of Straw Propeller Gourmet Foods heard that Quaker Oats denied a Massachusetts man’s oatmeal recipe because he submitted it in a handwritten letter and not electronically they knew they had to reach out to the man, Will Smith. Mr. Smith is an 80 year old man from Massachusetts who submitted the tropical recipe to Quaker in response to a contest they were running to generate new recipes. The story has been trending on social media since February.
Quickly, Straw Propeller responded and agreed to create Will Smith’s tropical recipe. The new flavor which contains oatmeal, brown sugar, pineapple and coconut will debut next month. “We feel this new addition will be a great new flavor to add to our existing profile and it has a compelling story behind it” said VP of Sales and Marketing Julie Leutschaft. At Straw Propeller, we don’t represent big corporate America, we are out for the little guy. We are old school and we take the time to read hand written correspondence because that shows heart and we are all about heart”
The newest flavor will be called Pineapple Cocon-Oats and will debut to the market August 1.
