Sunriver Brewing success booming one year after production facility expansion.

With an estimated 200 percent increase in annual barrel production by the end of 2015 and multiple awards added to their resume, Sunriver Brewing Company is making a name for itself in the world of craft brew.

By the end of June the new production facility will have more than doubled their capacity in fermentation tanks since last spring. The addition of another hot liquor tank and a new whirlpool vessel will also be installed to help with efficiency as product output levels continue to grow. In 2014, the brewery produced over 1000 barrels, which will easily be surpassed with a projection of 3000 barrels for the 2015 calendar year.

The production facility is not the only notable accomplishment for Sunriver Brewing recently. The brewery won multiple awards at the North American Beer Awards including two silver medals and one bronze medal. They also took first place for the people’s choice award at the Central Oregon Beer Week SMaSH Festival in both May 2014 and 2015.  Additionally, they received first place people’s choice and sponsor’s choice award at the KLCC Brewfest – a festival which hosted 75 breweries from all over the west coast serving 190 different beers.

Ryan Duley, director of sales and marketing for Sunriver Brewing Company commented, “It’s been fantastic to hear the buzz about the high quality of our beers and these medals and awards confirm just how technically sound that they are. With the dramatically increasing popularity of our beer, I do believe that this notoriety is one factor helping that.”

The brewery is currently producing two year-round brews outside of the pub and many seasonal selections including Shred Head, Hop Shop Series (which rotates a new hop forward beer every three months) and S.U.P Summer Ale. Three additional beers are available on a rotating basis only at the Brewhouse restaurant.

The public’s positive response to the brewery’s recent releases has inspired Head Brewer Brett Thomas to keep producing unique brews. “We take inspiration from the consumer, as well as what I call the seasonal palate. Sunriver’s Summer beers are typically light, balanced and easy drinking – our Unfiltered Kolsch, Hop Shop: Session IPA and SUP Summer Ale are all good examples of that mindset.”

To meet the consumers demand they started bottling Vicious Mosquito IPA, Shred Head Winter Ale and S.U.P. Summer Ale in 22oz. bottles last December. With five brewers now on staff and distribution in almost all of Oregon, the brewery has future plans in line including releasing 12oz. cans in 2016.

The company’s Brewhouse restaurant in The Village at Sunriver remains a popular fixture since opening in the summer of 2012, garnering a growing reputation for handcrafted beer, exceptional locally sourced food and service in a fun atmosphere.
