Sunriver Music Festival Begins Search for New Executive Director

With a successful 42nd season in the books, Sunriver Music Festival’s Executive Director has announced her pending retirement and the Board is now searching for a replacement.

After 14 years serving as executive director and 17 years on the Sunriver Music Festival staff, Pam Beezley will be retiring on December 31. Beezley believes that although the decision was not an easy one, the timing is right for new leadership.

“The Festival is in a solid financial position with a skilled and professional staff and a passionate Board committed to the success of the Festival,” explains Beezley. “Our continued success this past summer shows that the Festival will continue to attract new patrons and new talented musicians in the future.”

Founded in 1977, The Sunriver Music Festival presents a two-week series of classical orchestra concerts during August in Sunriver and Bend, plus approximately five other non-orchestral concerts throughout the year. The Festival Orchestra is selected by Artistic Director George Hanson from prestigious orchestras and teaching positions throughout the U.S.

The Festival is committed to nurturing the next generation of artistic talent through the successful Young Artists Scholarship program and ongoing music education programs in the South Deschutes County Schools.  To date, the Festival has awarded over $551,000 in scholarships to deserving young classical musicians.  In the schools, the Festival supports band, choir, guitar, orchestra, ukulele and theater classes.

The Board is seeking candidates with a minimum of three years’ experience working with nonprofits, particularly arts related, including successful fund raising. The successful candidate will demonstrate administrative, management and leadership skills, strong fundraising ability from both individuals and businesses, successful grant writing, familiarity and experience with financial systems and documents, a capability to work successfully with a multimember board, an ability to connect with an audience, a commitment to music education and a love of classical music.

If interested, applications should send resume and cover letter outlining the candidates interest, relevant experience, and skill set via email to: mrmurphy@chamberscable.com.  Applications should be submitted electronically before September 20.
