Tactical Fire-Suppression Forwarder Field Demonstration Today & Tomorrow

A Field Demonstration of new fire-suppression technology with unique capabilities will take place today and Friday. Details are as follows:

Dates and Times
Thursday, April 22, 1-4pm
Friday, April 23, 9am-12pm

Location and Directions
Take Highway 97, Exit 153 toward Sunriver Resort and Mt. Bachelor
Travel on Mt. Bachelor road for 4.2 miles
Turn right on Forest Service Road 41 to Besson Day Use Area (~ 2 miles to site)

Purpose
Demonstrate new fire suppression technology with unique capabilities including:

  • Adaption to logging equipment (forwarder with log grapple)
  • Capable of operating in rugged, steep terrain (~ 50 percent untethered, ~80 percent tethered)
  • Quickly deployed on fire-site
  • Provides equipment support for hand-line fire crews
  • 2,600 gallon water tank
  • 160-foot water spray capability
  • Suction pump for stream and other water sources
  • Foam application
