Forest Explorers: Winter Ecology
There’s still space for students to join our winter ecology program, a Wednesday outdoor program for third- through fifth-grade students. We will explore different habitats, identify animal tracks, have fun with science — and of course, play in the snow. We will have your child(ren) in a stable learning pod of ten and will be following all COVID-19 guidelines. Programs take place at Skyliner Lodge every Wednesday through February 24.

Loving our Lunch Bites
Our garden team has been hard at work supporting food literacy and connections to nature by creating daily enrichment flyers for Bend-La Pine School’s Grab & Go meals. Redmond families will now find these flyers once a week in their lunches, too.
Daily topics and activities vary, and include:
- kids cooking with Oregon-grown produce
- bilingual read-aloud books
- sustainable actions kids can take at home
- learning about and exploring nature
Other seasonal activities, videos and coloring sheets will also be offered. Families: If you’ve picked up lunches, we’d love your feedback on our Lunch Bites. Email Denise to answer a few questions, and she’ll send you a packet of local seeds for your time.
Let the Council Know Your Thoughts Today
Every two years, right after new Bend City Councilors are sworn in, the City Council sets new goals to guide the Council’s and staff’s work, and the City’s two-year budget, over the next biennium.
The new Council’s goal-setting meetings are this week (the second of two meetings is tonight, January 21). Now is the time to express what you value and where you would like to see our local government invest its time, resources and attention. LEARN MORE.
