Public Meeting regarding the future of the Evergreen School Gymnasium into a cultural arts center is set for 7–8pm, Wednesday, May 18 at Wild Ride Brewing. 332 SW 5th Street, Redmond.

In 1944 the Union High School Gymnasium rose from the ashes of the original gym. For nearly seventy years, it housed the memories of our community, having served as a gym for high school, middle school and grade school students as well as a community space for all of Redmond.

For several years, the building has set empty and deteriorating, badly in need of renovation and structural updates.

The Evergreen Cultural Arts Committee is a project of the 2015-16 Leadership Redmond class sponsored by the Redmond Chamber of Commerce and the REA. We seek to honor the building’s important contributions to Redmond’s past while creating new memories for future generations of Central Oregonians. Our mission is:

Redevelop the Evergreen School Gymnasium into a cultural arts center featuring a performing arts space, theater, gallery, classrooms, studios, and a non-profit arts incubator.

The Committee invites you to join a Tip-Off meeting May 18 at Wild Ride.

• Introduce/reintroduce the community to the Gym space and its possibilities.
• Generate creative ideas for its use as a Cultural Arts Center.
• Form community committees to carry the project forward.
