A Garden for Every School
For our last garden meal this summer, kids harvested, washed and cut veggies to make a plant part salad. Then they ‘smell tested’ three different spice blends from Savory Spice, a Garden for Every School sponsor, and chose which one they wanted to put in their individual oil and vinegar jar. Italian blend was the favorite!
Our Growing Garden Team
After two years as a FoodCorps Service Member, we’re thrilled to announce that Tracy Ryan has joined our staff as a Garden & Nutrition Educator! Tracy served at Three Rivers School in Sunriver, where she provided nutrition and garden-based education lessons in many classrooms. She also supported the wellness team in their efforts to plan and build a new outdoor school garden.
Additionally, we’re excited to introduce you to our new FoodCorps Service Member, Caroline Danielson. She’s already jumped into the role, building partnerships and recording virtual lessons to be shared with online classes and learning pods. We are so excited to be able to serve even more schools and students this school year!
Our Picks
Are you passionate about climate action and equitable outcomes? Here is a chance to get involved in a big way. Oregon’s Land Conservation and Development Commission will be implementing parts of Gov. Kate Brown’s Executive Order on reducing greenhouse gas pollution in the land use and transportation sector. They are seeking community members to serve on a Rules Advisory Committee to help develop strategies for equity-centered growth and development across the state. We’d like to see a committee that represents the diversity of our cities and communities. We’d like to see bold leadership that brings people together to implement solutions. What do you think? To apply to serve on the RAC, complete the application by 11:59pm, Thursday, September 24.
