Heart of Oregon Corps announced that it has received a $100,000 grant from the Wells Fargo Foundation to support its new youth workforce development campus in Redmond. The funding recognizes the power of career-connected opportunities to help young people build financial stability and self-sufficiency.

“This investment from the Wells Fargo Foundation is a powerful vote of confidence in the potential of Central Oregon’s young people and the role they play in our region’s future,” said Laura Handy, executive director of Heart of Oregon Corps. “We are incredibly grateful to Wells Fargo Foundation for recognizing the importance of this work and choosing to invest alongside us in our youth.”

Heart of Oregon’s new campus will serve as a regional hub for local youth on the workforce track–bringing training, education and support services together under one roof to provide young people with clear, accessible pathways into employment, skilled trades, education, and self-sufficiency. Purpose-built classrooms, hands-on training spaces and integrated supportive services will allow Heart of Oregon to better meet the needs of young people across Central Oregon—and build a Central Oregon workforce equipped to answer our region’s greatest employment needs.

Heart of Oregon’s WORK-EARN-LEARN model helps local youth and young adults gain meaningful work experience, earn wages and stipends, develop job skills, and pursue industry-recognized credentials that allow them to work toward their futures.

For a young person stepping into their first job, a paycheck can mean more than money. It can be the first step toward independence. A new skill can become a career. An industry-recognized credential can open a door that once seemed out of reach. And the confidence that comes from making an impact in community can change the way a young person sees their future—and their own ability to direct the course of their own lives.

Members of the media and community are invited to celebrate the campus grand opening and ribbon cutting at 11am on September 30. Guests will hear from regional leaders and alumni, tour the new campus building, and enjoy a free hot dog BBQ lunch. Learn more and RSVP at www.hoccampus.org.
