Central Oregon’s trail system will take center stage at What’s Brewing: The Trail Economy, happening Tuesday, September 1, from 5-7pm in the Mountain Room at Deschutes Brewery. The event will explore the role trails play in the region’s economy, tourism industry, workforce and overall quality of life.
Dr. Mark Buckley, senior economic advisor with Buckley Economics, and Nate Wyeth, chief of staff at Visit Bend, will open the program with findings from the latest economic impact report. They will be joined by a panel featuring Jana Johnson, executive director of the Deschutes Trails Coalition; Dustin Smith, mountain operations director at Mt. Bachelor; and Brandon Tyler, general manager of Riverhouse Lodge.
Attendees will learn more about the economic impact of Central Oregon’s trails, how recreation influences tourism and local businesses, and how public-private partnerships are supporting future trail stewardship. The discussion will also highlight the Deschutes Trails Coalition’s $1 for Trails Program and its connection to the local business community.
Admission includes a light snack, a first beer and opportunities to win raffle prizes from event sponsors. Online registration is $30 for members and $45 for non-members, while admission at the door is $40 for members and $55 for non-members.
Space is limited, and advance registration saves attendees $10 off the walk-in price.
