What’s Brewing? | Oregon’s Rockstar Entrepreneur Tour in Bend, Oregon

You don’t have to be a millionaire to invest in your community! Hatch Oregon, a brand new economic engine for growing community capital within Oregon, and the Bend Chamber are teaming up to teach you how to invest.

On December 1, the statewide tour of homegrown Entrepreneur Rockstars is coming to the Deschutes Brewery Tap Room for a special Bend Chamber What’s Brewing Community Forum. More than a dozen cities have been visited on the tour, but this is the second time the bus has stopped in our entrepreneurial hub. Come get inspired by rockstar entrepreneurs from a diverse cross section of industries, including an Oregon distiller, a saddle maker, a community solar energy farm operator, a Bend-based baseball bat maker and more.

For years, entrepreneurs have had to do a tap dance for angel investors – but not anymore! Our state is the 16th to empower entrepreneurs and the consumers who want to support the local businesses they love. Now local entrepreneurs may raise up to $250,000 from fellow Oregonians, like you, through a Community Public Offering – a new securities crowdfunding tool.
Did you know 1 percent of personal savings in Oregon is equivalent to 914 million? This means there are literally billions of dollars that could help boost business in Oregon. Thanks to the new Oregon Intrastate Offering Exemption rules passed in January, any Oregonian can become a shareholder of an Oregon company.

Currently 10 Oregon entrepreneurs are seeking funding from Oregonians through the program, said Jess DeNoto, tour director at Hatch Oregon. Red Wagon, a Eugene ice cream maker, recently became the first Oregon company to meet its fundraising goal using the crowdfunding tool.

“The tour is an opportunity to meet the homegrown entrepreneurs from across the state, hear about their offerings and the different opportunities,” DeNoto said. “You get to talk to these entrepreneurs in person and ask questions.”

Attend the Rockstar Entrepreneur Tour to learn how you can make a difference in your community by filling the capital gap for small and startup businesses.
