Dr. Andy Higgins, MD FACS announces the opening of his breast care and general surgery practice in Bend.

Dr. Higgins, who has more than ten years of surgical experience, has practiced in Bend for the last nine years.  He will focus his practice on breast care services, including the evaluation of breast lumps mammographic abnormalities, performing and ultrasounds and minimally invasive biopsies, consultations for breast cancer, risk assessment and second opinion consultations, breast cancer surgeries including lumpectomies, mastectomies, sentinel node biopsies and oncoplastic techniques.

Higgins said, “Opening a private practice allows me to utilize the wide range of local resources available to treat Central Oregon patients with the most innovative, effective techniques available.  It also allows me to spend more one-on-one time with each patient, meeting her where she is and creating a treatment plan that will result in the best outcome possible.”

And while Higgins says opening his practice during Breast Cancer Awareness Month was not intentional, the significance is not lost on him.  “Having a month dedicated to raising awareness about this disease is fabulous.  But my great hope is that people will be mindful of the importance of mammograms and early detection every day of the year.  Please, take care of
your pair.”

In addition to breast services, Dr. Higgins will also offer general surgical services, including hernia repair, endocrine surgery, spinal access surgery, acute and trauma surgery and abdominal surgery.  Dr. Higgins’ office is located at 2450 NE Mary Rose Place, Suite 205 in Bend.
