Welcome once again to our annual profile of the Central Oregon commercial construction and real estate industries. We have selected 22 projects this year, based on hard construction cost permitted before December 31, 2008. Many have asked how we choose the projects, and after talking to architects and builders in the region, the criteria made the most sense.
This year the Top Projects must have at least $1 million in hard costs to make the list. Some of the projects are still under construction, while others are complete or near completion. There are a wide variety of projects this year from schools and park district headquarters to office buildings and a train depot. This variety helps our community to grow in many different industries. In total these projects alone will bring more than $134 million into our economy (however, $68 million less than the previous year).
There are many more great projects in the tri county area that may not have qualified under this criteria, but you can be assured that they will be featured in an upcoming issue of Cascade Business News.
Many thanks to all of the owners, developers, contractors, architects, brokers and engineers who took the time to provide us with much of this information.
