Deschutes Brewery received three awards at the International Brewing and Cider Awards 2015, a bi-annual competition that first began in 1888.
The only U.S.-based brewery that was honored this year, Deschutes received the following awards:
• Champion Smallpack Ale – Armory XPA
• Champion Dark Beer – Black Butte Porter
• Champion Specialty – Red Chair NWPA
Receipt of an award through this competition is “a recognition by fellow professional brewers that a beer is an outstanding commercial example of its style.” The awards were granted during a ceremony last week at London’s Guildhall. Including the three winning beers from Deschutes, championship trophies were awarded to a total of nine beers and one cider.
