Bend, Oregon Christmas Parade Set for This Weekend

Come rain, snow or shine…the 2014 Bend Christmas Parade will proceed on Saturday, December 6 at noon downtown on Wall Street. In light of the parade cancelation last year due to the subzero temperatures the committee has invited back as Grand Marshal, Heaven Can Wait Founder Charlene Levesque and the 2013 Pioneer Queen Ruth Burleigh to ride in the parade.

“We are extremely happy to have both Charlene and Ruth join us again this year and give them their time in the spot light,” stated Ernie Gilpin, committee chair. Going on to say, “It’s also a pleasure to welcome the 2014 Pioneer Queen Jane Schroeder. This will be another first to have both Pioneer Queens ride in the parade.”

It was decided to keep again for 2014 the previous theme: Look What’s Under the Christmas Tree!

The 2014 Pioneer Queen Jane Schroeder is a long time Redmond resident, with a 30 year career as a field worker for OSU, 27 years running her own touring business and a member for 52 years with the Trail Riders Club. Currently she is a historian for Ollapodrida and member of the Ladies of the Greens Golf Club all at the young age of 90. Jane has been married for 52 years and has two children and two grandchildren.
