Building Resiliency into Living with Wildfire

0

Join City Club of Central Oregon on May 26 as they discuss and explore how we build resiliency into dealing with wildfire and smoke going forward. We will examine the steps taken over the past 30 years to help our communities combat fire at the urban interface and what is happening going forward. Whose responsibility is fire protection in our neighborhoods? How do we develop new housing and remodel in fire safe ways? How do we come together as a region to prepare ourselves?

“Wildfire impacts where we live, how we manage our neighborhoods, our behavior and when people choose to visit us. The reality is we are living with increasing wildfire risk and need to be prepared as a community,” said Kim Gammond, executive director of City Club.

The forum will be held in person at the Riverhouse on the Deschutes as well as livestreaming on City Club of Central Oregon’s YouTube Channel Facebook page on Thursday, May 26, 2022.

Panelists:

  • Jodie Barram, Co-Coordinator with Oregon Living With Fire
  • Bill Boos, Deputy Fire Chief at Bend Fire & Rescue
