Cat Rescue, Adoption & Foster Team to Close

0

A long-time (8.5 years) local nonprofit group, no-kill, all-volunteer Cat Rescue, Adoption & Foster Team announced it is closing and will liquidate and sell all of its assets.

Your help would be appreciated, since all of the items either need to be sold on August 5-7, 9-5pm or donated to other nonprofit groups if not sold. All revenue has to pay off final bills, and anything remaining will be used to support expenses, for as long as possible, of the volunteers and others who stepped up to adopt or foster our last 20 or so cats that are mostly hospice, special needs or very senior and require medications, special food and/or continuing vet care.

We deeply regret that we can no longer help cats abandoned or injured on the street; those cats that are too old, feral, scared, not weaned, sick, injured, etc. that are not welcome in local shelters; those in unwanted colonies that will likely be shot, starved or poisoned; or those cats that people surrender with no guarantee that the shelter taking them will not put them down.

We are grateful for the support of donors, businesses, adopters, and the volunteers who put in countless hours to help as many cats as possible – nearly 10,000 during 8.5 years.

Information and photographs of many the items to be sold will be posted early next week on the craft website, www.craftcats.org, and CRAFT’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/craftcats. Volunteers are in the process of sorting, grouping and pricing. There are many linens of all kinds, cat beds, carriers, folding cages, dishes, household goods, cat trees and furniture, people furniture, appliances, shelving, cabinets, hand tools, lighting fixtures, office supplies, yard tools, groomers’ cages, a compressor, etc. Two buildings full. Most items will be staged for the sale within the two buildings.

The CRAFT deposit can/bottle recycling program trailers and sorting shed will also be sold, but not until a couple of weeks after the sale. This has been a very reliable source of income, and we hope to sell the trailers and shed as a group to another nonprofit for fundraising purposes.

Thank you for any help you might provide.
