The City of Redmond will celebrate the completion of a major phase of the Eastside Arterial Project with a public ribbon cutting on Friday, June 5 at 10am at the new roundabout located at Veterans Way and Airport Way. The event will also highlight the opening of the newly constructed Airport Way extension to the north of the roundabout.
Event Details:
- What: Ribbon Cutting Ceremony – Veterans Way & Airport Way Roundabout
- When: Friday, June 5, 10am
- Where: At the new roundabout (Veterans Way & Airport Way). Parking for the event may be accessed by turning south onto 9th Street from the Hwy. 126 & Ninth Street roundabout. This segment of 9th Street will be open for the event ONLY and not thru traffic.
Following the ceremony, crews will implement a full closure from June 5-7, to perform the final tie‑ins needed before opening the roadway. The new roundabout and roadway will officially open to the public on June 8.
The soon-to-be-completed Phase 3 roundabout at Veterans Way and Airport Way marks a major milestone in the Eastside Arterial project, improving safety and long‑term connectivity across the corridor. In addition, Phase 1’s southern connection at 9th Street will also open on June 8, creating a new link from Airport Way to OR126 that will significantly enhance mobility and reduce congestion throughout the eastside network.
The Eastside Arterial is being delivered using the Progressive Design Build method, an approach that brings the contractor on board early to allow for close collaboration and greater flexibility. This delivery model enables real‑time design and construction adjustments, such as adding a temporary detour road, to minimize impacts on nearby businesses and travelers.
The City extends its appreciation to businesses, travelers, and the broader community for their patience and cooperation during recent detours and construction‑related closures.
Construction updates, detour information, and phase schedules will be shared as work progresses.
