Family Business Excels at Safety

Keeping Sisters Country rolling in safety for all seasons is the prime concern of Davis Towing and Tires, serving Sisters and the surrounding community with a full roster professional towing, heavy haul service, auto care and an impressive line of tires, shocks and brakes for myriad auto makes and models.

“We’ve been in the family tire business since 1962 and have been doing the main towing duties for Sisters, Central Oregon and Santiam Pass since 1980,” said owner Kathleen Davis, who co-owns the business with her husband, Art. “It all began with Art’s parents, Richard and Eleanor Davis, at the Hancock

Gas Station in downtown Sisters, which is where the Space Age station is now located. They owned the Silver Spur Motel back in the ‘60s and there was a tiny gas station right there on the road that got torn down eventually.”

The Davis’ enterprise moved to its present location in the industrial park section of Sisters in 1991, expanding their lineup of services and products with brake, alignment and suspension work and carrying respected tire brands like Cooper, General, Michelin, Pirelli, Uniroyal, Continental and B.F. Goodrich.

“The towing component came into the business is 1981 and we had a location in Sisters and one in Crescent, where my dad had another gas station,“ recalled Art. “We purchased the towing portion of the company from my parents in 1995, then the tire business and property in 2000. Right now we have two flat-bed carriers, a medium duty recovery truck and a heavy duty recovery truck and one low-boy heavy haul trailer.”

Davis Tires offers a complete selection of quality brand tires at competitive pricing for four-season, touring, traction and off-road for passenger cars, motorhomes, trucks and trailers. They also provide studding on new tire sets and siping services on newer or used tires for better tire life, better traction and a softer ride.

“Our distributor can order from more than 30 different tire brands, makes and models. If it’s black and round, we can get it,” said Kathleen.

“We also have next day delivery out of Portland so if you order something from us you’ll have it pretty quick. When we first started out we got deliveries once a week, so we had to carry a lot in our in-store warehouse. The automotive manufacturers kept coming out with more sizes which made it impossible to carry everything. This next-day delivery deal is convenient for us and our customers.”

What Kathleen and Art love most about the business is interacting with their customers and providing high-quality products and services that are integral to their daily lives.

“We also offer tire storage when the need to swap out sets of winter and summer tires is necessary. That way people don’t have to go through the hassle of handling and storing them themselves. So if they want their tires on they can just call for an appointment and we can get them right in.

It’s just $40 a year to store sets and our clients really appreciate it. We’re very aware and respectful of our customer’s time and anything we can do to accommodate them better, we try to do. Whether it’s a ride home or locating hard-to-find or odd-sized tires.”

Davis Tires prides themselves on continuing the family legacy of excellent customer service and personalized commitment to their vehicular needs all year round. They also offer Protection Plus, a nationwide limited warrant program, covering tire repairs, road hazard, and limited-mileage warranty plans.

“We’re family friendly and dog friendly here and have toys and candy for the kids. We want to thank the Sisters community for supporting us over all these decades and embracing us as a respected mainstay in the local business landscape.”
