Aromatherapy Fundamentals

Introduces essential oils’ properties, benefits and effects on the body when used in clinical and holistic settings. Massage therapists should have prior education and understanding of basic massage techniques before registering for this course. (20 contact hours, CEUs included). Check the college bookstore to purchase 3-pack of Therapeutic Grade Oils (Lemon, Lavender, and Peppermint) and optional textbook.

Foundations of Ayurveda
Tuesdays and Thursdays, January 5 to March 22

The concept of Ayurveda as a scientific, natural medical system will be explored. Students will be introduced to foundations of Ayurveda and explore in-depth dosha theory as applied to physical and psychological constitutions, refining self-care for the holistic body along with relationships to nature. Recommended preparation: Massage Therapy certificate, Licensed Massage Therapist or have equivalent core competencies in massage therapy. This course combines experienced professionals with advanced students, enhancing learning for both.

The principles of deep tissue massage, neuromuscular therapies and muscle energy techniques will be applied to target athletic performance and recovery, as well as integrating techniques to aide in rehabilitation of athletic-related injuries. Advanced massage training when working with pregnant clients that will include precautions, draping, positioning and how massage can support women in labor.
