Focus on Injury Prevention & Improved Performance for All Levels
Bend Pilates in Bend, Oregon will offer a Foot Workshop on Wednesday, August 5 from 6-8pm taught by Emma Maaranen and Debby Mandeville-Bowen. People of all activity levels, from avid runners to people who suffer from pain while walking, are invited to attend.
“This workshop will evaluate each individual’s unique needs, provide corrective exercises, and give everyone a plan for home care,” says Bend Pilates Owner Debby Mandeville-Bowen. “With proper understanding and treatment, you can prevent
common injuries like plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, collapsed arches and other foot issues.”
Both Mandeville-Bowen, the first Pilates instructor in Central Oregon to be certified by the Pilates Method Alliance (PMA) and Maaranen have taught foot workshops separately, and are looking forward to bringing their combined knowledge and skills
together for the Healthy Feet Workshop.
“Feet come in many flavors: flat, rigid, inverted, turned-out, and a myriad of other interesting arrangements,” explains Maaranen. “Understanding what kind of feet you have and evaluating their strengths and weaknesses is the first step. From there, we can develop a self-care plan to improve the efficiency of how your feet perform using self-massage techniques, exercises and range-of-motion activities.”
As a professional mountain biker who has 15 years of experience as a sports injury massage therapist, Maaranen has helped athletes of all levels–from weekend warriors to Olympians–overcome injury, and leads clinical sports injury and pathology seminars.
The cost for the Healthy Feet Workshop is $24.
