K-12 students and their science teachers in Central Oregon will have a new space for experiments, research and training at Bend Science Station Learning Laboratories on the Oregon State University-Cascades campus. Hennebery Eddy Architects, Inc. of Portland was selected to design the new building, which is scheduled to break ground in October 2016 and open for classes in September 2017.
Currently in the design phase, the BSS Learning Laboratories will allow BSS to increase its capacity, deliver new programming and develop new partnerships, including collaboration with OSU-Cascadesin the teaching and learning of science. It will also provide young students from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds early exposure to a university campus and learning environment, and serve as a public resource center for science education.

Hennebery Eddy is partnering with consultants in Bend including project manager Brightwater Collaborative, Walker Structural Engineering and civil engineer DOWL. Mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering firm Interface Engineering worked with Hennebery Eddy on Cascades Academy of Central Oregon in Bend. BSS has selected Walsh Construction Company to construct the project and will invite public review of the proposed building design at a date later in the summer.
