ZipStand, the first-ever combination phone stand and car mount, is launching on Kickstarter on June 1. ZipStand’s 30-day Kickstarter campaign has a funding goal of $35,000 which will be used to buy injection molding tooling for production.

As a car mount, ZipStand is an easy and safe hands-free way to access your phone’s GPS feature, listen to podcasts on the road and more. At home ZipStand’s nifty kickstand makes it easy to prop your phone to Skype, Face Time, access recipes and the phone timer in the kitchen.

Joe Sorensen, inventor, said, “I tinkered with spring arms, sticky pads, gears and suction cups before discovering that the most elegant way to position a phone on the dashboard is to use a flexible arm with a magnet. I’ve gotten great feedback on Zipstand and it’s gratifying to have invented something that’s useful for others in their everyday lives.”

ZipStand is easy to use – and requires only one hand to use. As a car mount, a strong rare earth magnet on a flexible arm holds the phone securely in place. The arm’s flexible sections allow you to pivot the phone and is close to the driver’s line of sight for use with the GPS or for accessing podcasts. The 3M adhesive pad is strong and easy to mount, but is also easy to remove and leaves no residue.

As a phone stand, ZipStand adheres directly to standard size phones and cases to prop them up either vertically and horizontally. It’s compatible with standard size phones. ZipStand will retail for $49, but is available on Kickstarter for an Early Bird Special Price of $19.

Sorensen is passionate about inventing things that make life easier. His inventions have won many design awards and he holds dozens of U.S. and foreign patents, including for the Figure 9 Rope Tightener and the Quick-Grip, the world’s first one-hand bar clamp. Quick-Grip was named “Best of What’s New” by Popular Science magazine, sold in hardware stores all over the world and grossed over $1 billion in sales. Two years in the making, Sorensen’s ZipStand is the first-ever phone stand and car mount.
