Celebrate Independence Day with KPOV, as the local community radio station presents a live simulcast of the Oregon Food Bank Safeway Waterfront Blues Festival this weekend in Portland, Oregon.

The Oregon Food Bank Safeway Waterfront Blues Festival is the second-largest blues festival in the nation, and the largest blues festival west of the Mississippi. The festival is Oregon Food Bank’s largest annual fundraiser.

The festival starts in Portland at noon Friday July 1 and continues through 10 p.m. Monday July 4. This year’s Safeway Waterfront Blues Festival, owned and produced by Oregon Food Bank, will feature such classic blues bands as Tedeschi Trucks Band, Jimmie Vaughn and the Tilt-a-Whirl Band featuring Lou Ann Barton, Maceo Parker, Dr. John and the Night Trippers, and Curtis Salgado. More than 120 performances are scheduled for the festival.

KPOV will carry the live broadcast beginning Friday July 1 and running through Monday July 4. Specific broadcast times each day are available at www.kpov.org. KPOV is one of several members of Oregon Community Media to broadcast the blues festival live. Oregon Community Media is a network of Oregon community radio stations created in 2013 to strengthen independent stations serving audiences from Florence to Fossil. All share a commitment to community service and keeping local voices alive on the radio dial.
