KPOV Lets You Experience New Orleans Jazz in Bend

How can you hear authentic New Orleans music in Bend, Oregon? Listen to KPOV 88.9 FM, High Desert Community Radio this weekend as it simulcasts the iconic New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival live. KPOV will simulcast Thursday April 30 through Sunday May 3 on 88.9 FM. You can also listen to KPOV’s live stream at www.kpov.org.

Founded in 1970, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival has grown into one of the biggest events of its kind in the world, attracting some 400,000 to enjoy music, cuisine and crafts. It has showcased legendary New Orleans and Louisiana performers, such as Professor Longhair, Fats Domino, Wynton, Branford and Ellis Marsalis and Harry Connick Jr., as well as internationally renowned guests from Miles Davis and Dizzy Gillespie to Bonnie Raitt and Willie Nelson.

This year the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival features artists ranging from Elton John to Lenny Kravitz and Buddy Guy; Preservation Hall Jazz Band to Kermit Ruffins & The Barbecue Swingers and New Orleans Nightcrawlers.

The KPOV 88.9 FM simulcast is presented in cooperation with WWOZ FM 90.7 community radio in New Orleans. Simulcasts on KPOV will begin Thursday April 30 continue daily until Sunday May 3. A schedule of performances KPOV will simulcast is available on the KPOV website at kpov.org.

For fans of New Orleans music, KPOV also carries two weekly programs showcasing New Orleans music. “Jazz ‘N Jambalaya” is a locally produced New Orleans music show Thursday nights from 6-8pm. “New Orleans Calling” comes from WWOZ weekly and airs on KPOV Mondays at 4pm.

KPOV is a listener-supported, volunteer-powered community radio station broadcasting at 88.9 FM and streaming live at www.kpov.org. The full schedule of KPOV’s local and syndicated programs, including information about each show, is available on the website.

KPOV broadcasts more than 40 locally produced music and talk programs not heard elsewhere in our area.
