On Sunday, October 2 to Tuesday, October 4, the National Foundation of Independent Business group will hold its annual Small Business Summit at the Sunriver Resort just outside Bend.
These annual events are held for Oregon small-business owners to compare notes on the daily struggles of running their enterprises, hear directly from top public policymakers, and get the latest research from experts in small-business issues. Already confirmed to speak are:
- Rocky King, Interim Director, Oregon Health Insurance Exchange
- Sen. Ted Ferrioli, Republican Caucus leader, who will talk about environmentalism and free enterprise
- Rep. Dennis Richardson on balancing Oregon’s budget
- Artist and NFIB member Rip Caswell, who will discuss the art of perseverance
- John Bernard on social media for small business.
More guest speakers are expected closer to the date. The cost to attend the Summit, which starts Sunday night and ends Tuesday afternoon, is $127 before Sept. 1, $177 after Sept. 1, and $297 for non-NFIB members. Lodging is booked separately by the attendees directly with the hotel. Further information and a registration form can be found on the NFIB/Oregon website, www.nfib.com/oregon, or by calling Jan Meekcoms or Stacy Jenkins at the numbers above.
NFIB is the nation’s small business advocacy association, with offices in Washington, D.C. and all 50 state capitals. Founded in 1943 as a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, NFIB gives small- and independent-business owners a voice in shaping the public policy issues that affect their business. NFIB’s powerful network of grassroots activists send their views directly to state and federal lawmakers through our unique member-only ballot, thus playing a critical role in supporting America’s free enterprise system.
