The Seneca Jones Sisters; Kathy, Becky and Jody will lead a conversationon what it means to, sincerely and unapologetically, be members of an Oregon Timber Family hosted by the Deschutes country Republican Party on September 24.

Topics they will discuss include:


• The family business and their conservation beliefs vs. environmentalist’s belief in preservation & why they felt it important to reach out to Oregonians at this time

• How sustainable yield has been impacted by the environmental strategists

• Patrick Moore – Green Peace Founder and now proponent of sustainable yield forestry

• What’s happening with current legislation in Washington DC including activity on theWalden/DeFazio’s bill, Wyden’s future proposal for the O&C lands and how the two differ

• Judge Leon’s recent decision in favor of active sustainable yield management of the O&C lands

• The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals decisions on

• Controversy over the Malheur forest in John Day

• The implication of the State Land Board’s (composed of the Governor, Secretary of State and the State Treasurer) decision to limit harvesting on state forest lands at less than sustainable yield levels

• The current political climate with state and federal legislators moving to re-open our public lands to a reasonable level of harvest.

This event is free and open to the public. Participants will be able to ask questions, and mingle with the speakers as well as members of our local, state and federal representatives.
