How do we invest in infrastructure, encourage economic development, support redevelopment, and create vibrant neighborhoods? One tool communities use is urban renewal, but how it works, who benefits, and what role it should play in our region’s future are important questions for all of us.

City Club of Central Oregon invites you to join us on Thursday, August 20 for Building Tomorrow: The Role of Urban Renewal in Central Oregon, a community conversation exploring the opportunities, challenges, and impacts of urban renewal.

For nearly two decades, City Club has brought Central Oregonians together to better understand complex issues, hear diverse perspectives, and engage in thoughtful, nonpartisan dialogue. This forum continues that tradition by creating space for a meaningful conversation about the choices shaping our region.

Our panel, moderated by Jonathan Bach of The Oregonian, will include:

  • Chuck Arnold, City of Redmond
    Corie Harlan, Central Oregon LandWatch
    Jonathan Taylor, City of Bend
    Kirk Schueler, Brooks Resources Corporation

Together, they will explore how urban renewal works, how it has been used in Central Oregon, and what questions communities should consider as they plan for the future.
