The City of Redmond Historic Landmarks Commission is pleased to announce the release of the Heritage Walk: A Walking Tour Guide to Redmond’s Unique Past. The Heritage Walk booklet is a free and informative walking tour guide leading users to the doorsteps of some of Redmond’s finest historic homes and buildings. The guides are available at the Redmond Chamber of Commerce & CVB, the Redmond Museum and Redmond City Hall.
“We are thrilled to see the latest edition of the Redmond’s Heritage Walk brochure. The historic tour is one of our most popular pieces with our annual visitors,” shares Eric Sande, Executive Director of the Redmond Chamber of Commerce & CVB.
The guide showcase thirty-six commercial, residential and institutional buildings – all constructed between 1905 (five years before Redmond’s incorporation) to the start of World War II – and includes a wealth of information about each structure as well as provides insight into the architectural maturation of the Redmond community. The guide also features a colorful map highlighting the location of the structures, many of which are conveniently clustered in an easily walkable area around Redmond’s downtown core.
“We look forward to folks taking this self-guided tour to learn more about our town’s fascinating history. And for those of you that have long ties to town, we invite you to share some of your own family’s stories and photos that contribute to the tapestry of Redmond’s rich history,” said Redmond Historic Landmarks Commissioner Shannon Farnsworth Rose.
